Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 September 2026
This privacy policy explains how Ketolio collects, uses and protects personal information when you visit the website ketolio.no or use the Ketolio app at ketolio.com. Ketolio is made for families living with GLUT1 deficiency syndrome and other conditions where a medical ketogenic diet is part of treatment. We know such information can be sensitive, and we take our responsibility for processing it seriously.
1. Who is responsible for the processing?
Ketolio is the data controller for the personal information processed in this service. This means we decide how and why your information is processed, and we are responsible for ensuring the processing complies with applicable data protection law, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Norwegian data protection legislation.
Ketolio is the controller for the information collected on ketolio.no. Email for privacy questions: personvern@ketolio.no.
2. What personal information we process
On the website ketolio.no we mainly process information you provide yourself via the contact form: name, email address and the content of your message. We also process technical information such as IP address, browser type and usage data, which is generated automatically when you visit the site.
In the Ketolio app (ketolio.com) you may provide information to plan and calculate ketogenic meals. This may include ketogenic diet targets, ratio, macronutrients, meal plans and notes you enter yourself. The app's own privacy policy applies to processing that takes place in the app.
3. Sensitive health information
Information about health conditions is considered sensitive personal data and has special protection under GDPR Article 9. Such information may only be processed with specific legal basis, for example your explicit consent.
The Ketolio website does not ask you to provide sensitive health information via the contact form. If you still choose to share such information in a message, we process it only to answer your inquiry, and we encourage you to avoid sharing more health information than necessary.
In the app, the content you enter may be linked to your or your child's diet and thus indirectly to a health condition. You decide yourself what to enter, and the processing takes place with your consent as the legal basis. You can withdraw your consent at any time and request deletion of the content.
4. Purpose and legal basis
We process your personal information for the following purposes:
– Answer inquiries from the contact form (legal basis: legitimate interest in communicating with you).
– Operate and improve the website, including bug fixing and security (legitimate interest).
– Collect anonymised statistics on website usage (consent, where applicable via analytics tools).
– In the app: store and process the information you enter yourself to provide the planning and calculation features (consent).
5. Cookies and analytics
The website may use cookies to function technically and to collect anonymised usage statistics. You can control or reject cookies in your browser settings. Necessary cookies for the site to function cannot be turned off without loss of functionality.
6. Sharing information with service providers
We do not sell your personal information. We share information with service providers (data processors) who help us operate the service, for example hosting providers for website and app, and providers of email and analytics tools. These providers process information only on behalf of Ketolio and in line with our instructions, and enter into data processing agreements with us.
We may also share information where we are legally obliged to, for example by court order, or to defend our rights in case of misuse of the service.
7. Transfers to third countries
Some of our service providers may process personal information in countries outside the EU/EEA (third countries). Where this occurs, we ensure the transfer has an adequate level of protection, for example through the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or other approved safeguards.
8. Storage and deletion
Inquiries via the contact form are stored as long as necessary to answer and follow up the inquiry, normally up to 12 months, unless longer storage is necessary for complaints or legal requirements.
Information you enter in the app is stored as long as you have an active account. If you delete your account, associated information is deleted, except for information we are legally obliged to retain.
9. Security
We have implemented technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss and misuse. Access to the information is limited to those who need it in their work.
10. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right of access to your own information, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection to processing. You also have the right to withdraw a consent you have given, and the right to complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (www.datatilsynet.no) if you believe we process your information unlawfully.
To exercise your rights, contact us at personvern@ketolio.no. We will respond within one month, cf. GDPR Article 12.
11. Changes to the privacy policy
We may update this policy when the service or legislation changes. The current version is always available on this page, with the date of the latest update at the top.
