Ratio / keto ratio in practice
Calculating the ratio in practice means putting numbers on fat, protein and carbohydrates in a meal, and then calculating the relationship between the fat's calories and the sum of protein and carbohydrate calories.
The formula
Ratio = (fat in grams × 9) / ((protein in grams + carbohydrate in grams) × 4). The result is the ratio, for example 3.2. Round to one decimal or the nearest half (3.0 or 3.5).
Adjusting toward the target ratio
If the ratio is too low (too little fat relative to protein + carbohydrate), you can increase the fat source. If it is too high, you can increase the protein or carbohydrate source slightly. The goal is to hit the medically determined ratio for the individual.
Ketolio does the math for you
In the Ketolio app, you enter the ingredients and amounts, and the app automatically calculates fat, protein, carbohydrates, calories and ratio. This removes manual calculations and reduces the risk of errors.
