Following a recipe
Following a ketogenic recipe requires you to weigh each ingredient accurately and not improvise with amounts. Here is how to do it.
Read the recipe before you start
Go through the recipe and check that you have all ingredients and equipment. Check that the nutritional content of the recipe matches your needs – ratio and calories can be adjusted in collaboration with the clinical dietitian.
Weigh accurately
Use the kitchen scale to weigh each ingredient in grams. Do not use "scoop" or "handful" as measures. Even small deviations can change the ratio. If the recipe specifies volume (tablespoon), weigh the corresponding amount in grams.
Do not swap ingredients without calculating
If you want to replace an ingredient, you must calculate the nutritional content of the new ingredient and adjust so that the ratio is maintained. A substitution that seems small can have a big impact on ketosis.
