Kitchen equipment
A ketogenic kitchen does not need advanced equipment, but a few things are absolutely necessary to be able to weigh, prepare and store the food accurately.
The most important: kitchen scale
A digital kitchen scale with 1 gram accuracy and a tare function is the most important tool. Without accurate weighing, the meal cannot be calculated correctly. It is a good idea to have two scales – one for daily use and one as a backup.
Measuring cups and spoons
Even though you should primarily weigh everything in grams, measuring cups and spoons can be practical for liquids. Choose glass or plastic with clear measurement lines. Remember that volume does not always correspond to weight – weigh to be sure.
Good pans and pots
A thick-bottomed pan distributes heat evenly and prevents fat from burning. A small and a medium pot cover most needs. Non-stick coating can be practical, but be aware that worn coatings can release particles.
Storage containers
Transparent storage containers with ml or gram markings make it easier to store pre-calculated ingredients and meals. Label the containers with content and date so that the overview is maintained.
Immersion blender and blender
An immersion blender or small blender is practical for emulsifying sauces, making mayonnaise and mixing fat sources evenly into meals. A hand mixer can also be used for smaller amounts.
